As a software engineer at The Nerdery, I was tasked with building websites using HTML & CSS as well as creating interfaces for mobile games and performing QA bugfixes. A mobile-first approach utilizing object-oriented SASS with version control in Git, the strong team approach led to highly scalable and large-scale websites and apps.
Being part of the small team at The Sherwood Group was rewarding and challenging. The only front-end developer, I was also responsible for UX architecture, QA and some UI design. We successfully built and deployed a new site every 4 months – while maintaining sites and building applications and e-commerce solutions for two dozen non-profit clients.
As a tutor at the Illinois Institute of Art – Schaumburg, I assisted other students in learning various web technologies as well as Adobe Creative Suite. Technologies included HTML, CSS, ActionScript 3, php and MySQL. Also responsible for tutoring in core classes, including English, math, art history, color theory and others.
Designing materials for outreach and educational campaigns, at the Department of Human Services I worked closely with the in-house print shop to ensure timely and proper delivery. Working with a tight government budget inspired creativity with limited access to colour and bleed for printing.
